The PollinoNational Park covers 192,565.00 hectares of land and is located between two regions, Basilicata, also called lucania, and Calabria. Here there is produced bread DOP, typical in its form. The main monument is the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta; to be added the Man of Altamura, intact skeleton of Homo Neanderthalensis, and cave of the dinosaurs, deposit dating to the Cretaceous period with dinosaur footprints.
Part of the city extends on the banks of a deep crevasse, very similar to the canyons, dug in the limestone by the stream Gravina, tributary of the Bradano, from which take the name the famous ravines of the Murgia, in a territory characterized by the presence of numerous karst cavities, such as the Pulicchio di Gravina.
It is composed almost exclusively of villas, and has a purely tourist function. There are hotels and resorts with bathing establishments, free beaches and discos.
